This paper will be engaged in a stylistic of a movie called “the royal Tenenbaums”, looking specifically in four components of a stylistic systems of a movie, which are sound, editing, mise-en-scene and cinematography. Sound in a movie refers to any kind of sound that you hear in a movie it can either be an ambient sound, diegetic sound or non-diegetic sound. Editing may be thought as a shot within the next shot. (Bordwell, T &Thompson, K. 2008). Cinematography: writing in movement which depends to a large extent on photography. Mise-en-scene means staging an action. It was first applied to the practice of directing plays. (B&T. 2008). It includes aspects of film that overlap over the art of the theater, which are setting, lighting, costume and the behavior of figures. Before introducing any other terms, it would be important to first bring into light the mission of this paper. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the two scenes of a movie that has been stated above, as it a comedy movie, and show to how that has been shown through the four components that have also been stated above. and also how the character has been developed and portrayed in the movie using these four components of stylistic system.
Setting there are two ways which film maker can go about when it comes to setting it is either selected or created, what is meant by selected is actually looking for a setting that is already exist, and then shoot in it or create a setting to shoot at. However, the filmmakers to try and convince the audience about a certain area, even if it is already there, they can insert props so that the place flows with the story line and come to a degree of realism. If for example an audience get to look at 31:30, where Royal’s ex-wife is working, a viewer can notice that the place is already there but, to make it to look like an archeologist working site the filmmaker had to use props such as the skeleton that is in the ground on the ground and is shown on the...
