Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi
Texas A&M University is a very well-known school in Texas. TAMU has much to offer, such as a friendly atmosphere, student networks, and a great location among other things. Being only two and a half to three hours away from the valley, you are given distance while not being too far away from where you came from. Out of the many majors offered at TAMU, I would choose to major in Biology (Pre-Med) and minor in Chemistry or Physics. In order to receive a Bachelor’s in Biology I will need to attend the university for three to four years. In order to be accepter to TAMU as an Academic Admit, you must achieve a combined SAT Math and SAT Critical Reading score of at least 1300 with a test score of at least 600 in each of these components; or achieve a composite ACT score of at least 30 with a test score of at least 27 in ACT Math and ACT English. For Summer/Fall 2013, the application opening date is on August 1st, 2012, and the closing date is January 15, 2013. One specific scholarship that catches my interest is the Regents’ Scholarship. In order to apply you must be a first-generation college student. Your family’s adjusted gross income must be less than $40,000 per year as verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The total cost for tuition for one year is $20,357. The Rio Grande Valley Regional Prospective Student Center has several admissions’ counselors. They are location at 5277 North 23rd Street McAllen, TX 78504 and their phone number is (956) 683-8647.
