The Effects of Temperature on Rate

The Effects of Temperature on Rate

Abstract:

Alka-Seltzer tablets fizz furiously when dropped into water. The moment the tablet starts dissolving,
a Chemical reaction occurs that releases carbon dioxide gas.
Summary:
What we did was prove that by increasing the water temperature we could dissolve the Alka-
seltzer tablets faster and create more Fizz than with lower Temperatures. Increasing the product
form (Dissolved) we wanted faster.
The particles, atoms or ions, which are REACTANTS, physically came into contact with one
another. By Increasing the water particle temperature it increased the frequency of these
encounters and finally increased the rate at which the Product dissolved.
The significance of the experiment was by increasing the water temperature we can make a
difference or Increase in the rate of a chemical reaction with temperature increase. Causing the
Alka-Seltzer tablets to dissolve faster so the Medication can be taken faster.

Statement of Purpose

Is for a chemical reaction to occur, the particles, atoms or ions, which are REACTANTS, must
physically come into contact with one another. Determine if anything that increases the frequency
of these encounters will increase the rate at which the Alka-Seltzer tablets dissolve.
