The Great Depression

During the Great Depression most people were affected by the disaster it caused; it was a time that those who were unfortunate enough to have lived through it wish to forget the troubles and heartache it brought. There are many who are attempting to argue or compare that our current economic recession is the beginning to what they feel may be another Great Depression. I have faith in our government, and that although things aren’t exactly how we would like for them to be; we have came along way from the 1930’s depression era, and are very fortunate that us as a nation and the economy was capable of surviving the depression. The Great Depression taught America how to be better prepared for the unexpected and how not to take for granted our circumstances. The Great Depression showed us just how quickly and devastating the decline of the stock market has on the world’s economy. We were able to overcome the depression and emerge a much stronger and smarter nation because of it. Those who suffered the Great Depression helped to pave the way for us today, and assisted in helping to prevent another Depression from hopefully ever occurring again. The United States was caught off guard, and took the circumstances of the depression to research and identify what contributed to the crash. The United States was able to use this information to implement the proper safeguards and an efficient plan of action to be better prepared in the event that history was ever to repeat itself. I am confident that we have taken the correct measures to prevent a depression of that severity from happening again, and that is why we have been able to rebound from our present economic recession so quickly.
