The Importance of Evidence and Support in Writing Papers

Firstly, I have come to learn that evidence and support is very important. I believe this is the most important thing when it comes to writing papers, and especially when you are examining ethical controversies. Keyword here is controversy so there may or may not be a correct answer, but whatever answer is given should have support and evidence from credible sources. ProQuest from the Ashford library is what I like to use a lot. It has credible information and has helped me through many papers. Secondly, I believe an outline is very important. For me, the best thing that helps me write a paper is having an outline. An outline may seem high school like, but it really does work. I had to write an outline for an English paper and the outline worked wonders for me. You have your introduction and conclusion, of course. What you need to worry about is what information will be going into the body of the paper. Especially when it comes to writing eight to ten page research papers, you need to have things to write about. Lastly, you need to be consistent in your writing. You cannot be jumping around subjects. The paper needs to be consistent with the introduction paragraph and the thesis statement. As you write a paragraph you should think to yourself, “Is this consistent with my thesis statement and the rest of the current paragraph I am writing?” These three items help me when it comes to writing papers and hopefully it will help some students in the class as well.
