I am going to be strictly honest; I did not like either story. The reason being is that I do not believe in sacrificing anyone for the betterment of a community or nation. To me that is what the author of bot stories did. They sacrificed two innocent children for the “supposed” betterment of a colony.
In the story “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” the colony sacrificed a little child who was only 6 years old. They hid that child away like the child had the plague and no one wanted to have anything to do with the child except to feed and water the child on occasion. The child had no understanding of what day, month, year, or time it was so the child just quietly sat back and would only hope that someone would come. When someone came to the child they kicked at the child so they would not have to touch because I am assuming they were afraid of the child.

By putting a chip in everyone’s head that made it seem like everyone was not to be smarter than the next person was not right either. If one person was thinking and...
