The Metamorphosis

The Metamorphosis

A BUGS LIFE
Parents have unconditional love for their kids, either the mom or dad. In this story, Gregor’s father does not seem to have the same reaction or adjustments as the mother about their son turning into a bug. In the story “The Metamorphosis”, Kafka shows us how the mom and sister seem to get comfortable and accept the fact that Gregor has changed into a venomous bug, except the dad. Gregor’s father is not very fond of the fact that his son has changed into a bug, even though Gregor has done a lot for him. It seems as the father is neither supportive nor grateful for what his son has done for him to this point. He seems to forget the fact that his son has worked hard to try to pay off his debt. Instead of trying to grip the fact that his son has transformed into a bug and needs support, he tries to do the very opposite and tries to kill him.
Grete (Gregor’s sister), at first was shocked about her brother’s transformation into a bug but after a while she got comfortable. Grete accepts the fact that her brother has transformed into a bug and is not really bothered by it. She does realize that her brother is going through something unexplainable and tough so she tries her best to help out. She does care about him, as she shows it by helping her brother out with what has happened to him like “and with Grete now felt tempted to want to make Gregor’s situation even more terrifying, so that the she would be able to do even more for him than now”. This just shows how she feels, that she has not done enough for her brother. She wants to help find a way to help her brother out even more. Grete becomes very comfortable, like her mother, about Gregor’s transformation and accepts it and tries to help him out.
