The Nintendo Wii has been the leading game console throughout 2008, outselling both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. Now the Wii is expected to remain the leading console in 2009. One of the factors that contributes to this is the price. The Wii is less expensive at around $250, while the Xbox 360 costs around $300, and the Playstation 3 at $399 for a 80 gigabyte hard drive or $499 for a 160 gigabyte hard drive. The price ranges make the Wii a reasonable product to buy than the other two, especially with the fact of having to buy controllers and games for each system.
It has been said that although the Wii is the leading game console, the Xbox 360 sells more games. This might seem like a bad thing for the Wii, but is not really as bad as you think if you look at it this way. The Xbox 360 has been out for over a year longer than the Wii, so they have more games available. With the money problems that many people are now having, the Wii looks more affordable. A video game costs around $40 each. After buying a few, the amount you pay is around or above what you already paid for the system. For the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, you have to constantly buy new games in order to remain entertained, causing you to spend hundred in games that you may never play again after you buy the new ones. With the Wii, you do not need to buy many games in order to remain entertained. This, therefore, is saving you hundreds of dollars, that you can buy other thing with instead of more games.
