Life Application
“The Twelfth Angel" has a main theme of, "never, never give up," which speaks volume of how we could rise up from the rubble of despair. If you feel you have lost all hope, this book makes you think again. It makes you realize that your life does indeed have a purpose and that you have in your grasp more than you think. The three themes that I got out of the book the most were: to never give up and get better each day, the power of friendship and love, and to believe in God and yourself and that things can get better. I also was so impressed by the book showing the importance of Little League Sports, and how a caring town all worked together for the boys to become better people. It was not about winning to the coaches as much as it was having a great bunch of boys that learned baseball skills and how to be a good person.
The theme,” never give up”, runs throughout the entire book. It is an eleven year old child that helps John Harding to remember to never give up. Although Timothy is talking to himself and trying to motivate himself, he teaches John and other Angels the importance of what he is saying. John had given up on life and his will to live after losing his wife and son, but finds the strength to go on through his love of baseball and Timothy. Peggy Noble, Timothy’s mother, never gave up. She worked hard no matter how bad the conditions life gave her such has her husband leaving, no money, and a son with a brain tumor. Peggy never gave up and had faith and appreciation for everyone’s help. Billy West never gave up on finding John that stormy night and kept knocking on windows until he found him. The book shows no matter what we are dealt, that we too can get better day by day in everything we do. Timothy never gave up on becoming better in baseball. He never gave up that John Harding would come and see him again. Timothy had great hope and accomplished his baseball dreams by never giving up....
