After taking the Hartman Personality Profile, I ended up with the color code of white. According to the evaluation, it states I am motivated by peace. An article by John T Ault and Steve T Barney gives a great explanation, and breaks down the four colors of the Hartman Personality Profile. It states white personalities look for independence and they feel necessity for kindness (Ault, J & Barney, S, 2007). They try to avoid any confrontation (Ault, J & Barney, S, 2007). Whites are considered the best listeners (Ault, J & Barney, S, 2007). They consider whites as easygoing, tactful, and logical (Ault, J & Barney, S, 2007). Whites are stronger than people think; they are not frequently seen for their strengths because they do not easily express or show their emotions (Ault, J & Barney, S, 2007).
After analyzing the results of my needs and wants, I was pretty impressed on how close it fit my personality. Not only do I have the same results on the analysis, I have the same traits as those described in the article by Ault and Barney. Where I totally disagree with results of this assessment was with the limitations of goal setting. I did not agree with any of the explanations of the limitations. According to one of the limitations I “wait for others to set his or her goals and then become resentful of the goals set for him or her.” I respectfully disagree with this assessment, in the matter of fact I found this statement in the article. “The error variance for each Color Code category, while lower than random chance, was large, suggesting caution in applying Color Code results to any individual.” It is intriguing that the results were spot on everything else, but completely wrong regarding my limitations.
