In “Thank You, Ma’m”. Langston Hughes tells the story about the middle age women has change the life for young thief. One day at the middle of the night. The women name Mrs.Luella ages about forty years old was walking down on the street with her large purse. Suddenly, the boy who name is Roger ran from behide tried to snatch her pocketbook. But the purse was too heavy adding up with his weight cause him to lose his balance. Instead of taking off quickly, the boy fell down on his back. She reached down the boy, picked the boy up by his shirt. So, she dragged the boy who age around fourteen to her home. She saw him with a dirty face and seems so hungry. Then, Mrs. Luella cooks him a bite to eat. She heated some lima beans and ham, made the cocoa, and set the table. She didn’t ask the boy anything else that would embarrass him, instead as they eat, she told him about her job in hotel. She said to him “eat some more son.” When they finished eating. She told him to take ten dollars to buy a blue suede shoes. Moreover, she said “next time do not make the same mistake of latching onto my pocketbook” and “other people”. She led him to the bedroom and said “good night,” behave yourself boy. The boy wants to say thank you to her, but he doesn’t even have chance to say it. Concluding Roger learnt a precious lesson from Mrs. Luella, He doesn’t need to be a thief anymore and has a new life.
