INTRODUCTION
What do the OUM students always do during the weekend break? How do they occupy their time? Doing two things at one time i.e being a teacher and OUM student - make them any different from anybody at spending their precious two-day holidays? Does gender determine the choice of activity during the weekend? This research of mine is mainly about the most popular weekend habits of OUM students. All the data used in this research is based on the information collected from a group of selected OUM students in my class.
METHODOLOGY
Subject
The subject consists of 20 OUM students of various major of study. There are 9 male and 11 female subjects. Two of the subjects are teaching in urban area and the rest are teaching in rural area. These subjects are selected because they are OUM students and they are new to academic life in a higher learning institutional. Most surprisingly, most of them are actually married with some children. Undoubtedly, their simultaneous role as a student, teacher and parent all at the same time seems quite impossible for them to have even a few minutes luxuries time for themselves. Their hectic schedule keeps them on their feet almost every single minute. Thus, they make the most perfect subject for this research.
Instrument and procedure
A total of 14 simple questions were ministered a few weeks ago. A survey form entitled ‘Popular Weekend Habits of OUM Students’ was developed for this research. The survey form was distributed to 20 students (subjects). They took less than 30 minutes to fill up the form. The survey form consists of 5 demographic questions (gender, age, marital status, race and religion) while the other 9 questions are about their children, major and year of studies, special duties in school, location of teaching and place of /origin, siblings and most important field - the three things they usually do during the weekend.
