Current State of Mobile IP
The current state of Mobile IP looks very promising in the future of technology. The way mobile phones, tablets, and laptops/notebooks/netbooks, have become compact with more technology inside them. As with voice over IP, it has come a long way since the first inception of the service, at one point a subscriber could not download files and talk on the IP phone service without hearing robotic voices, or experiencing random disconnects, of course over the years this disadvantage has been fixed and subscribers are able to download bandwidth intensive files and talk.
The new advantages of mobile IP would be uniqueness, portability, while a disadvantage would be spotty availability. The unique advantage of mobile IP is that it does not use a normal static or dynamic IP address, according to Cisco mobile IP’s use a single address while transferring from one wireless signal to another. This makes the advantage of portability very desirable by environments that require extended mobility.
Unfortunately mobile IP technology is still being developed and is mostly utilized in metropolitan areas, while there are some services in urban, rural, and country side areas the signals are spotty at best.
In years to come mobile IP will be around the world, there are so many developments and advantages that can be incorporated with using mobile IP, like exercising rather than sitting behind a desk we could work taking a brisk walk. I think that mobile IP has a very promising future.
