Women in the Media

Abstract
For many years there has been a negative look upon women and how they appear in the media and in advertisements. All of the ads and commercials on television have been considered appropriate because everyone else is doing it. Women are slanged in music videos and looked down upon as women. Many articles and studies have shown that something needs to be changed because it’s causing women to have health issues and try to look like someone that isn’t real. This research shows the study that something needs to change with the way women are being treated at looked at today.












In today's social media women are mostly portrayed as sex symbols and degraded as human beings. Not only in many magazines are they expected to look a certain way, but also are looked at as sex objects in many advertisements, mostly advertising alcohol and other advertisements that men pay attention to. The idea of beauty now is tall, skinny almost with no meat on their bones, and very unhealthy. All these images in magazines portrayed through advertisements influence, and force women and girls to live up to an unrealistic expectation. There is so much technology and surgeries that women can do nowadays to try to get that “perfect” and “beautiful” image that is displayed through the media and some girl will go to major extremes to try to reach it even though it’s not realistic. I hope that this research paper will open people’s eyes more too how much women are degraded and looked down upon and encourage people to try and do something about it.
Female stereotypes in the media portray women as a something more than someone, and also all this causing women to not want to eat and be very unhealthy and dangerous.
