What factors led the founders to create Family of Woodstock?
Woodstock was founded due to recognizing there was a need. Factors that pushed it to be brought about were seeing issues as in, sleeping in parking lots, hitchhiking, seeking out foods and clothing. “This lead the founders to provided material and ensure the inalienable rights to these materials. Due to the large number of people that traveled to the town especially the youth, Ms. Gail Varsi decided that action was needed which in turn moved her to open up her home and allow people to use her phone. To this day the Family of Woodstock Hotline is still open and still uses the same number from when it originally opened up.
How have the values, attitudes, and beliefs of this organization developed and changed over a 40 year period, and how have these changes affected the wat they deliver services?
How has Family of Woodstock specialized to meet the needs of the community?
Family of Woodstock after ensuring the given rights of food, clothing and shelter, Family of Woodstock broadened its scope to help in any need that they face. They embraced the motto “Any problem under the sun” (www.dailyfreeman.com). This motto appears on their pamphlets and posters and any other informational material that they have available. Their use of the word family refers to the many subdivisions that they have that all possess the same goal in mind. Helping others repair the damage to their lives no matter what the cause. Teenagers, community, homeless services, domestic violence hotline and walk-in centers.
