Casinos provide the location and facilities for players to try their luck at a wide range of gambling games. Casinos act as a banker that pay out winning bets and collect losing bets. In general casinos can be divided into two categories. Resort and smaller provincial casinos, which are usually more relaxed, allow casual wear and offer low minimum stakes. City-center casinos tend to be more formal, often imposing stricter dress codes and relatively high minimum stakes.
I have never taken any casino related courses; however I am currently enrolled in Resorts Management and Operations. The syllabus states that few of the chapters will cover basic knowledge about casinos, U.S. gaming market, casino management and other fundamental information about operating casinos.
I would not consider myself knowledgeable in the casino subject. I am international student and until I came to United States I have not had opportunity to visit casino. My family has never gambled therefore I am unfamiliar with gambling and casino operation. After visiting Atlantic City last year I was amazed with the casino industry, as a result I decided to gain more knowledge about the subject.
I do not visit casinos frequently, however during the few visits I have spent more time observing players rather than gambling myself. I have tried slot machines and played roulette with a help of my boyfriend. I was not brave enough to try black jack or poker tables, but I would definitely like to try playing in the future.
The atmosphere inside of the casino is incredible; sounds of winning jackpots and glittering lights make visitor want to move forward. I think the ambiance of the casino atmosphere and feeling that anyone can win, made the biggest impression on me.
