THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
Introduction
Generally, most people have their own ideas of what literature is. Some people just describe literature as an art of writing, ideas, imagination, etc. Literature is a Utopia of many writers in this world. It is very versatile and broad. It can teach us many things especially the styles of writing. It’s like a gigantic box that when you start opening it, the infinity ideas and information will burst continuously.
Comics or graphical story book is a kind of literature that most kids loved and more favorable to buy. It is very fun to read because of its colorful drawings that made the imagination of the reader spark more especially the young ones. Comics allow us to live out this dream whether you're 8 years old or 60 years old. Many of our grandparents still read this kind of book and sometimes, others think that comics is way more better than to watch a movie. Comics can help develop and improved our reading skills, increased vocabulary, and learn about the basic story telling formats. Also, it can give a strong feeling of desire to learn and to seek out more information especially kids that are always curious and always asking.
There are many types of critical approaches. One of them is the Historical-biographical approach. Historical-biographical approach is under in the Traditional approach that has two types of critical approaches. Historical-biographical approach is a reflection of the author’s life and times. It investigate the biography and works of the artists.
This is a study that investigates the life and works of these two authors which is Pol Medina who wrote the Pugad Baboy and Manix Abrera who wrote the Kiko Machine .
Pugad Baboy is a satirical comic strip that is made by Pol Medina and it talks about the obese people that lives in the Philippines.
