Gatsby has different qualities about himself, he is pleasant, attractive, enigmatic, and charismatic when he smiles, it shows three of his traits of being pleasant, attractive, and his Charisma.
His Smile plays a very important role of hope and imagination. “He had one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it that you may come across four of five times in life. It faced, or seemed to face, the whole external world for an instant and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor, it understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself” (48). In this quote, Nick Caraway is talking about how Gatsby can make anyone he smiles at feel like he chose that one person out of the whole world, reflecting on what that person thinks of him/herself.
Gatsby’s whole life was trying winning back a love, he never lost. Daisy still loved him, but she was married and that was the only thing keeping them apart. “I did love him once – but I loved you, too” (140). He never needed to become rich and have a big house for Daisy to love him. She had still loved him when he was poor and when he was really himself. Gatsby changes his whole lifestyle so that Daisy will be impressed with how successful he has become. "Daisy realizes that she lacks the emotional clarity and fortitude to leave her husband in favor of Gatsby" (95).
All Together, Jay Gatsby was a very decent person despite most of his acquaintances and his occupation. Gatsby was relatively kind to everyone despite how anyone treated him. He was also a very altruistic person in what he did for people. He was also very determined to accomplish his dream. Gatsby wanted people happy, and if they were happy he was happy.
