There are many affects of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Abuse to a child can be extremely damaging to their development. Studies show that with each different type of abuse there are different effects and also some similar.
Physical Abuse can be very damaging physically and emotionally. The longer the abuse goes on the more the child suffers consequences and damage. Physical abuse can be painful and traumatic for a young child. The long-term effects of child abuse will impact the child’s adulthood, their family, and their community. In the most serious cases of child abuse the result could be death of the child. There are many immediate affects on the abused child. Some of the immediate affects are pain, medical injuries, and sometimes in the worst cases death due to physical injury. Another immediate effect is emotional problems, such as anger, fear, anxiety, low self-esteem, and not wanting to express your feelings. Behavioral problems are also an immediate effect of; it causes aggression, self-destructive behavior, hyperactivity, poor social skills, and also poor language skills. Some of the long-term effects of physical abuse are physical disabilities, such as; brain damage, permanent physical injury to the body, and an injury to your eyes. Another long-term effect is trusting others in adult relationships and violent relationships. Also it may cause emotional disturbance. Another long-term affect is that it can lead to depression and feelings of low self-esteem. It can also lead to drug or alcohol abuse and you are more likely to be an abusive parent when you become an adult. There are many other long term and short-term effects but these are the most common and the ones you will most likely experience if you ever are physically abused.
