Commonalities and Successes
The Human Services field has a broad range of organizations and programs to help improve the lives of the people and communities in which they serve, which is different than any other general business in the world. Human Services has branches of various facilities that can focus on multiple barriers or can only focus on one. Human service professionals work with adults, children, and elders to help improve their daily lives. Human services programs and organizations have many common denominators; there are many trends within the field, and also takes special qualities to be successful.
Common Denominators
The common denominator of all human service programs is effective communication, culture, and improving the quality of life. Communication is the main common denominator in ensuring clients and case managers establish trust and effective partnerships. The human service programs focus is to ensure clients receive efficient, understandable, and respectful services that are provided in a manner compatible with the client’s cultural health, beliefs, practices, and preferred language. Human service programs also must conduct initial and ongoing organizational self-assessments, client satisfaction assessments, and outcome-based evaluations. Another common denominator human service programs face, is the ongoing collection of information, which is used to inform, guide, and suggest continuous improvement efforts.
Trends in Human Services
Through the years, service deliveries change based on different factors such as political trends, economic trends, social trends, and technological trends (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2012).
