As a public practitioner at Reliable Steel Products Company, I must make a quick and wise decision to solve this unfortunate incident. As the text mentioned, we will notify the employee’s family immediately about the incident and send them our condolence for their loved one. Since the situation is critical where an employee was killed due to an accident, we must expect the unexpected from the media and public. We must establish a crisis communication team immediately. Our crisis communication team will include members at the public relations department and the company’s lawyer. Since reporters are buzzing at our door, we must come up with a spokesperson immediately which will be the president of the company. Unfortunately, our president is on her way up to state capital and we must notify her to return back to the company. It is essential for her to speak about situation before things get more complex. In the meantime, we will designate and train her and also identify the potential third-party supports which will me the head of public relations and vice president of the company. We will also train the vice president as well as people who were at the incident so they have the right and effective answers for the company when reporters asks. The problem is everyone at the company including safety supervisor and personnel director. It is our job to convince them because we must have an interview with the media as soon as possible otherwise, things will get worse. If the worse case, if our president is not available, we must train the lawyer of the company or vice president to speak for the media. We believe vice president will be the next candidate because it is good for the head of the company to explain such a critical situation and it shows our company is taking responsibilities for this tragic incident.
