When mention this sentence, I have to proclaim when and how it came about. It is when Laura went to that dead man’s house and see what exactly that poor and low class’s live situation is, and then she said this key sentence. So what exactly hat means and why did she say like this. In my viewpoint, I think hat stand for that high class where Laura is, forgive also means forget.
Understand what kind of person Laura is can help us have a better way to explain this sentence. Laura is just like a flower in greenhouse. She is both lucky and unfortunate. She have a wealthy and happy family, her families love her protect her so much, treat her as a treasure, She made friends with those person who from high class. She never worried about daily life, she wear expensive clothing she eat nutritious food she drink clean water. In a word, her world is nearly a perfect and ideal world. Thereby, she is unfortunate. She has no chance to touch those people whose life is really hard and called “low class”. Her world isn’t a complete world; a life that is only full of beautiful things is a lot of people’s dream but actually it is unrealistic. It is impossible, only when one’s life both have beautiful and bad experience then it will be complete. When Laura went to that dirty disorderly poor place, she must be surprised, maybe she asked herself “how came” She feel the unfair and cruel of this society, then she want to cry because she isn’t without sensitivity, but her sensitivity is sub-ordinated to the comforts and trappings of the Sherian way of life. She is young and inexperienced. She is innocent, when face with this situation, she is helpless she can’t do anything but cry, she want to change and help them but she haven’t that ability to do that. So the only thing she do is to say forgive my class and show her sympathy. She will complain...
