Nowadays , the phenomena of traveling abroad to study has increased, as a result many students face a culture shock when they arrive in the host country . According to Oberg, culture shock is that feeling which experienced by people who suddenly enter radically different cultural environments to live and study (Furnham & Bochner, 1986). Culture shock plays an important role in student emotional and influence them individually . In this essay the impact of culture shock will be described, after which , some solution will be provided . Finally, it will evaluate the effectiveness of each solution.
Referring to professor Zatz , the wave of culture shock pass through three stages . The first stage is a honeymoon , when students arrive they feel euphoria and enthusiasm . After that they go through the next stage , let down, they start to feel lonely , stress and disappointed , because something is not as good as they expected . Then they reached to final stage (resignation) they become accustomed and able to adjust to a new situation . UKCISA (2008) reported that culture shock had negative effects on students' health and their emotion. Whereas, the authors of higher education (2012), observe the differences in the education result between international student and host country , and he found that in the first tow semester host country student were better than international , while in semester three international student record a hug improve on their result more than host student. He referred that to adoption with method of study .
In order to solve and reduce the effect of this problem there are many suggestions. The first suggestion is that international students must have Self-confidence and optimism and believe that they have abilities to perform tasks well (Aronson et al, 2005).
