Enlightenment Era: New Thoughts and Views

Enlightenment Era: New Thoughts and Views

Dear Petition Committee,

I am writing this in hope that the Moore School of Business will continue to accept me as a business student this semester of fall 2009. I am aware that I should have completed a required Math 122 course by the end of this summer to be automatically advanced from the Lower Division to the Moore School of Business. I am also aware that I failed to complete that course. Though there are no real excuses for this failure to meet the requirements there is personal and legitimate reason for my absence of academic efforts this summer. I was offered and took a managing job for a small landscaping business these past few months and, for a while, was skeptical as to if I was going to return to school in the fall. Many other personal and home occurrences were also factors that led me to consider the option of working instead of returning to South Carolina. I do not wish to discuss these reasons further and thus would like to say that the months have passed and it is clear to me now that academics should and will be my primary focus over the next several years. I would like to make a request that I stay in the Moore School of Business upon completion of the required Math 122 class this fall semester 2009, and thus continue my studies on business and management here at the University of South Carolina. My G.P.A. last year was just over a 3.0, and I believe with the clarity I have gained this summer on what needs to be done I can achieve even more this year if the opportunity is here for me to do so. Please consider my request, I can assure you it will not be a waste of your time. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Terry L. Baldree Jr.
