Ethics Reflection Paper
Ethics and social responsibility are an essential strategic concern within all organizations, as they are fundamental to developing a strategic plan. Ethics and social responsibility has the ability to make or break business; the success of its strategic plan is reliant upon it. To maintain existence in a highly competitive industrial environment, business entities have to pass the society’s test. This test is whether they play a significant role in the advancement of the society as well as in the preservation of the natural environment. Businesses have to maintain a “give and take” relationship with the community. They have to serve the society in return for the benefits they get (Vitell et al, 2003). This paper will explain the role of ethics and social responsibility in developing a strategic plan as well as discuss how my personal ethical perspective has evolved throughout the program.
Ethics in Organizations
An organization must adhere to ethics to successfully implement its mission, vision, and objectives in a manner that provides a concrete foundation so that management can accurately develop and implement strategies. When an organization places emphasis on its ethical practices, it essentially ensures that the organization has considered the various ethical implications of every plan of action within its strategic plan. By doing so, the implications become an integral part of the organization’s overall scope. It is important that organizations integrate ethics into its strategic planning process in order to represent its core values to internal and external parties in a positive manner; this will assist in strengthening the organization’s image (Jin & Drozdenko, 2010). As a result, the majority of stakeholders will have the assurance that the strategic plan serves their requirements and better interests.
