Fredrick Douglass

The reason why I support Fredrick Douglass is because he joined many movements and fought to end slavery. Fredrick Douglass was one of the African Americans that joined the anti-slavery society after running away as a slave from Maryland. He went to the North and joined the Abolitionist movement. He was one of the most important people to speak (collier 43). Douglass also fought within the states to end slavery by influencing Lincoln to fight that war(Fredrick Douglass). Fredrick Douglass was famous for his expressions -- he traveled throughout the US and into England on his wickedness of the idea of slavery. He published the North Star and Fredrick Douglass paper which shared information about slaves and anti-slavery movements. He helped employ African American troops for the union army and, his relationship with other important leaders helped him to take a stronger position for himself. When Lincoln was elected as a president, he was already having the idea of decreasing the amount of slaves. After the Civil war had started in 1861 -- Douglass was searching for Lincoln to tell him about putting African American troops in war actions (Douglass). His sons where also supporting his thoughts and ideas. They served in 54th Massachusetts division which was absolutely an African American volunteer (Fredrick Douglass).

Both men felt annoyed and attacked each other by their papers. Those men will never settle their conflicts (William L. Garrison). In my opinion, the constitution did not say anything about slaves....
