Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mood, cognitive function or health. The effectiveness of aromatherapy is yet to be scientifically proven, however some evidence exists that essential oils may have therapeutic potential. Since some essential oils such as tea tree have demonstrated anti-microbial effects, it has been suggested that they may be useful for the treatment of infectious diseases. The evidence base for the efficacy of aromatherapy used to treat medical conditions remains poor with a particular paucity of methodologically rigorous studies. Carrier oils seem to be popular, they are most often derived from plants, and include apricot kernel, sweet almond, grape-seed and many others. They not only carry other oils to the skin, but in and of themselves have beneficial properties such as vitamins to nourish the skin and moisturizing for dry skin. Carrier oils do not usually have a strong fragrance and therefore allows for the scent of the essential oil to successfully be delivered when applied to the skin. The ratio of application should be 3 drops of essential oil to each teaspoon of carrier oil.

I think progressive meditation has gave me more positive effects. Relaxation is the most immediate one. when nothing distracts you and when you are not tied to the past or anxious about the future. In meditation you become peacefully aware of your real self. Meditation clears the mind giving you a sense of inner peace.This exercise helps to increase awareness and helps you get in touch with your body. Therefore, you may notice more often when your body tenses up at different times of the day. Having this awareness will allow you to take control of your muscles and keep them in a relaxed state.
