Heroism
When most people think of heroes, they image seeing Superman swooping out of the darkness to rescue them from danger. Heroes do not have to use the ability to fly, or shoot laser beams out of their eyeballs to be considered a hero. A hero is someone who will knowingly risk their life to protect another human being from death or harm. Heroes are regular people who are courageous, integrity, and compassionate through their daily life.
Courage is not a characteristic of a weak minded person. Being courageous means risking your life to save the lives of millions. For example, Harriet Tubman leading thousands of slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad, now this is a courageous act. Rosa Parks showed bravery when the bus driver told her to get up from her seat, and Rosa said to him, “I don’t think I should have to move”. She knew the repercussion for her actions, but she was standing up for what she believes in and willing to put herself in danger. Even standing up to a bully that is tormenting a kid is an act of courage; also, finally asking out a girl you have been crushing on forever. Courageous can be found in big or small doings in everyday life. Integrity is the will to be faithful of others when they are not around.
Truthfulness is part of being a hero, people love to be able to trust other individuals. A honest person does not gossip about others behind their back, but will go back into a store if he forgot to pay for something. Integrity is about how you conduct yourself when nobody is around to see yourself in manner. For example, one of my dad’s friends said to him, “Hey I know a way to cheat taxes and get away with it, are you down? My dad respectfully said no, because he knew morally, it was not the right thing to do. Cheating on your spouse shows dishonesty and that is not a true hero, because love is a strong feeling we should cherish and never take advantage....
