How did you feel when the monster said he needed a companion?
As if he is human. The monster has only learned human characteristics from what he has seen. The monster does not know of the possibilities he has, and thinks that he needs to have a female companion. This search for love is a very humanoid trait and makes him seem vulnerable and human which makes us feel sympathy for him.
Why did Victor refuse to marry Elizabeth until the monster was created?
Victor has done this for protection, “the prospect of marriage to Elizabeth is the only happiness in my life” and for no other reason. If Victor marries, he will most likely be starting a family with Elizabeth. From fear of the monster imposing threat to his newly wed wife and possible children, Victor delays the wedding until his debt to the monster has been fulfilled.
Why did victor not explain to the monster the issues that may arise with the creation of another monster?
Victor knows of the monsters explosive temper. This temper can be seen in the scene which he strangles William. Knowing of the monsters capabilities, and out of fear for his life and the safety of those close to him, Victor did not tell the monster of the things that could go wrong (such as the new monster no wanting to be secluded) and leaves the monster content He does this because he knows that this is the only thing that he can do to stay safe.




What do you think the monster will do at Victors wedding? If he intends to hurt Elizabeth, why does he not do it now?
The monster vows to seek revenge on victor when he destroys his work. He threatens that he will be at his wedding for two reasons. The first being that the monster knows that Victor is scared of him, and this constant state of fear that Victor is put into from not knowing is very ideal to the monster (because it is a form of mental torture for victor). The second reason is for revenge, most likely in the form of a murder. The...
