The purpose of this memo is to inform all first-level managers at InterClean to recognize the merger and acknowledge the changes after the merger with EnviroTech. As everyone knows, the announcement was made earlier this week by David Spencer stating that InterClean, Inc. has officially acquired EnviroTech, one of our major domestic competitors in the corporate market. Although this merge is a very exciting transformation for our company, you will find many changes throughout the organization in which we will need to adapt to, especially as a manager in our sales team. As a result, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the importance of the type of behavior that successful managers demonstrate, illustrate the types of management actions that are in line with employment laws, and lastly explain some practices for working within a diverse environment.
As first-level managers, his or her behavior can critically impact the productivity of the workers due to the close interactions that are encountered. Fairness and attitude are highly important when retaining employees. “Retention comprises the activities of (1) rewarding employees for performing their jobs effectively (2) ensuring harmonious working relations between employees and manager; and (3) maintaining a safe, healthy work environment” (Casio, 2006, p. 6). Every time the organization looses a staff member, the company will have to train new employees which will ultimately slow down the productivity of the organization. Many other factors can also affect the production of the employees, such as: people skills, system and procedures, knowledge, and management skills. Ultimately, appropriate leadership helps to construct a rewarding work environment which encourages high productivity.
