Is Animal Testing a Medical Breakthrough or a Inhumane Nightmare?
In this society, man is the king of animals and takes and owns whatever he pleases, this includes animal rights. All over the globe, animals are used for experiments to test things varying from beauty cosmetics to vaccines. Animal testing is a form of tortue. Ever time animals are tested on their cries of pain go unanswered. Most people think that only rats and mice are used for experimintation but millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are isolated inside cramped cages were they know nothing but pain and don't know how it feels to wild and free. We must if we continue using such barbaric methods to fulfill our own curiosity-driven desires. Animal testing is not only cruel and inhumane, but in some cases, it’s completely pointless.
For years we've treated animals of all kinds the same way white people did to imported Africans back in the 1800's; like slaves. They work and live like them, from horses pulling plows on farms to tigers, elephants, and bulls for entertainment like circuses and rodeos, being cramped in small glass boxes or small steel cages and all of these have resulted in one outcome; cruelty. Animal testing dates back to a time when animal rights didn't exsist, a time where pet owners had to face the fear of their pet being stolen for animal testing. There seemed to be some hope for test subjects in 1966 in the U.S., when the government issued the ‘Animal Welfare Act’. This act did not only protect owners from potential pet theft, but it also protected the animals already doomed to a life of testing by making it mandatory for scientist to provide enough food and shelter for the specific types of lab animals tested on.(This act has been reamended since then for better or worse, but animals still suffer beacuase more than 95% of animals tested on are excluded from the only federal law offering any sort of protection..
