Jesus Freaks
Jesus Freaks was overall an inspiring book with different stories, however all connected with one powerful message behind it. The first story I chose to select was "He Will Enable Me to Bear It" it had truly inspired me. The second story I chose was "I Have to Know" it showed me if you have faith in God he will help you to do the incredible. Lastly I chose the story "Gospel Flames" it proved to me the no matter what kind of torture people endure they can always overcome it if the trust in God. I believe that Jesus Freaks was an appropriate summer reading selection because it helps us to realize what others would do for Christ and it inspires us to follow their ways.
The first story I read was "He Will Enable Me to Bear It". This story touched my heart because it showed me how strong this little girl was for Christ. Another reason why I found this so inspiring was because the little girl endured excruciating pain and managed to stay strong for what she believed in. I believe this story helped me to become stronger. However I must admit that when the officer yelled "Cry, wench! Let me hear you cry!" (page 73) I wouldn't be as strong as the little girl was.
The next story I have chosen to write about was "I Have to Know". This story made me very emotional especially when he raised his hands when he was being burned. Even though this story did not relate to any of the troubles I have in my life I still felt like I could feel the pain he went through. It answered my question on how can people be so strong during such difficult time; because of their devotion and their faith they have with God. "Hauker lifted his hands, still on fire, over his head" (page 144) was the most touching part to me.
Lastly my final story I had chosen was "Gospel Flames". I chose this one because it was somewhat different from the rest of the stories, this one was a group of people rather then just one. "The crowd saw to their amazement that they were smiling" (page...
