Legalization of Marijuana
Bill Hicks once said, “Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit…unnatural?” This quote makes sense because marijuana grows naturally within our planet and has many potentials. The federal government does not like to spend money, but we are trying to control drug trafficking and banning the use of a very non-lethal drug that has many healing powers. There are so many different aspects that many people do not realize what and how marijuana can help create revenue with jobs and medical patients just in Colorado alone! The legalization of marijuana, although controversial, is beneficial to Colorado because its ingredients can help medical patients while providing revenue to the state and creating business opportunities, even though it is illegal from a federal standpoint.
Individuals that use the drug already know a little or a lot, those who do not have developed negative views, and why the use of marijuana needs to stay banned. Marijuana, also known technically known as Cannabis sativa L, is thought to have "originated in the mountainous districts of India, north of the Himalayan mountains" (" Marijuana," 2006.) For many years, the Chinese pharmacopeia knew it as a therapeutic use and treated many common ailments. The Egyptians even used cannabis for treatment of sore eyes. Centuries later, the Greeks used marijuana to treat inflammation, earache, and edema. According to Gale Virtual Reference Library (2006), some concerns raised questions about the psychoactive effects on the citizens and was placed on restrictions in the 1300's by the authorities
