Judge Judy is an interesting narrative to examine and look at. There are many dimensions to look at with her as the judge, and the plaintiffs and defendants pleading their case.
The first case that was being defended in the episode I watched of Judge Judy was Fisher vs. Grover. Bill and Karen Fisher are the parents of Jordan Fisher, who is 15 years old. Paul Grover is the owner of an Auto Dealership. Jordan bought a car from Grover, for 1,200 dollars, with a forged check that he stole from his mother. Only six hundred dollars was given at the time with an agreement that the other six hundred would be paid later. Jordan let his friend park it in a parking lot, so the car was later impounded. Grover paid the fees to get the car back after being impounded. Grover claimed he talked with Jordan’s mother to see if he would receive more money for the costs he incurred. Grover also claimed he thought Jordan’s mother was the one that bought the car. Judge Judy ended up telling Grover that he was the one that sold the car and went under contract with a 15 year old boy, which is illegal, so he has to give the six hundred dollars back to the Fishers and be stuck with all the cost that were incurred for getting the car back out from being impounded.
In this Fisher vs. Grover case, Jordan and Grover seemed to have different sides of the story that didn’t line up. Jordan said that he communicated with Grover over Instant Messaging and email. Jordan said that the idea of buying a car was brought up in conversation over Instant Messaging. Jordan claimed he told Grover that he was thinking of buying a car to fix up when he was the right age. On the other hand, Grover said that Jordan contacted him, and that Jordan said his mother wanted to buy him a car right now because of his good grades at school.
