As the nineteenth century approached, our country experienced many changes. Soon after the Patriots were trying to break off from their mother country Britain, the French saw themselves in their own Revolution trying to throw over their monarchy. Many men and woman helped make our revolution a success. Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence, tried to make our country even better than it could have been by including freeing the African American slaves in the declaration. Why would Thomas Jefferson, a wealthy white Virginia Revolutionary, want to free slaves? There are many different interesting and controversial subjects of the American Revolutionary War.
Many countries have undergone various revolutions, such as the United States and its ally, France. There are many differences between the French and American Revolutions. The first thing that differs is, of course, the causes of the each revolution. The American Revolution started off with angry colonists from the United Colonies (“Paul”). The colonists had just fought a war with the British against the French and Native Americans. After the war, Britain had promised the colonists land to the west of their boundary of the Appalachian Mountains. When the British and colonists won the war, King George III put a stop to the colonists inhabiting the west with the Proclamation of 1763 (“Benjamin”). The document stated that the colonists were only to live east of the Appalachian Mountains. This made the colonists angry, and Britain needed to find a way to control them. King George III decided to tax the colonies on paper, tea, food, and various other things (Langguth 24). Soon the colonists decided it was time to revolt, and soon enough the colonists turned themselves into Patriots.
Unlike the American Colonies, France was one of the wealthiest and most powerful European Countries (“Timeline”). There was a lot of freedom within France but there was still an absolute monarchy....
