THE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES OF A MANAGER

A constant authoritative attitude and imposing orders- telling people what to think; leaving them no room to form their own opinions- seems at first glance undoubtedly the trait of a good boss but it may at times dent the Manager-Employee relationship Can managers attach moral significance to their ideas: Do that, and you can't compromise. Yet, it does not mean a training to oneself not to say "I” but rather to think in terms of think "we"; that is as a "team” whereby the job is to make the team function. . “Leadership can be thought of as a capacity to define oneself to others in a way that clarifies and expands a vision of the future.”[1] In line with this concept, a shared vision of the business must be defined and shall be documented, in this case, to provide quality service and uppermost quality products can be the vision shared by the whole team. The vision shall to that end be translated into meaningful goals. The production and sales target must be communicated to all employees. The key to successful management relates to some extent to influence, not authority since one does not lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership.

Management researchers have often generalised certain attributes that tend towards a more positive end when adopted by managers.
