What Does Patriotism Means to Me
Patriotism to me is when we devote our love, support and defense of one’s country with the loving support in the military. The holidays remind me of Patriotism especially the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. The flag and the pledge of allegiance is the main idea of Patriotism. All these things combined make me proud to be an American.
The men and woman in the military who are dedicated to our country risk their lives for us. As a girl scout our troop sent care packages to a women soldier in Afghanistan. We wrote letters throughout the year and collected items to send to her. I can’t imagine being away from my family and friends in a foreign country and not be able to talk to them every day. I admire their courage and patriotism to our country.
The Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day reminds everyone of the sacrifices of the military and the freedom that we have. We have the freedom of choice, speech, religion, and from tyranny. Our Declaration of Independence helps to insure our rights as Americans. The holidays help to remind all Americans of the sacrifices of all our Four Fathers that came before us. Our freedom should not be taken for granted and should be protected.
The flag and the Pledge of Allegiance is what most remind me of being a patriot. On the flag white signifies purity and innocence. Red is for hardness and valor. The color blue is for vigilance, perseverance and justice. Our flag represents our nation. When we look at our nations flag and we say the Pledge of Allegiance we remember everyone who fought to protect us. When anyone recites the Pledge of Allegiance and looks at the flag they are remembering all who fought to protect our freedom and they will support and be faithful to the United States of America for which it stands for liberty and justice for all.

I am proud to live in our country. I feel blessed to have been born in a nation under God....
