During the Middle Ages there were many important figures that lived during this time who tried to make a name for them selves, whether through thought, speech or power, but many of them have become forgotten. Though during this time indeed there were many powerful and brilliant men, the figure that stands out the most to me , and especially the most interesting I believe was Joan of Arc. Though a women Joan of Arc had more courage and respect over a lot of others at this time, If I had to choose to be a women during this period , I would most definitely choose Joan f Arc.
Joan of Arc had been born to a very poor peasant family in northern France, at an early age people began to realize that she was really a very special girl. She was said to have demonstrated extreme piety at a very young age, and it was said that at the young age of thirteen she had already begun to experience some sort of revelations, those to which were thought to be from voices of past angels and saints, who spoke to her and guided her behavior. It is very difficult to understand how this could really be possible , but during this time period many were extremely religious and this was not known to be the first case of some one experiencing such voices and revelations.
Years late the revelations continued but this time she had been told by her voices to rescue Orleans from the English. So she had done exactly that. As if she were a man she had dressed in men’s clothing and armor and led her followers and believers towards Dauphins castle. This is when people began to think that maybe she had become a little insane , a women trying to lead an army to capture Dauphin , many people did not take Joan very serious at all. After having listened to all these people and to Joan herself speak of the mission that she had been sent on, Charles had her examined to see whether she really was a which, but of course she was not.
