ABORTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS
From the universal declaration of human rights, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. “ Moral opposition to abortion causes intense social and political conflicts, especially when efforts are made to criminalize its practice and exercise coercive state control over women’s bodies. Political efforts to transcend the rhetorical contrast between rival “pro-life” and “pro-choice” camps seem unable to move the debate beyond stalemate. Moral and legal evaluation of abortion also sharply divides Christian churches.” (Singer & Kuhse 126) Life is the most valuable gift anyone can give or have. The issue of abortion with regards to a person human right happens dicey one, in our world today. It’s an ongoing controversial issue and remains a debate amongst various groups of people and organizations, including cultural, political and social groups, with those for the motion finding nothing wrong with abortion and those against, saying abortions is morally wrong. As much as making abortion illegalizing can help save the lives of many unborn babies each year, making it legal also helps save the lives of many women. With a person’s human rights in question whiles preventing a woman from having an abortion due to the fact that an unborn baby has the right to live, in so doing it also violates a woman’s right to her own body.
The termination of one’s pregnancy before delivery which is accompanied by the death of the fetus is known as abortion. The reason why one may chose to abort her unborn baby may depend on one of two main reasons. A first reason is due to natural reasons, where there is a wrong fetus developing in a woman’s womb that may cause injury or disorder to a woman and in turn prevent her from carrying the pregnancy to term.
