Health Paper

I’m going to be talking about a really close family friend we had in Brazil. His name is Alex and he was born September 17th, 1966. He’s a 36 year old recovering drug addict living with Aids. He has told me he has done a lot in my life that he regrets, but he doesn’t regret sharing his experiences, in hope to make a difference in your life an to give back to the ones that have suffered from my addiction.
Alex started using drugs when he was 9 years old. He used to think that drugs were so cool when he was younger. His babysitter got him started smoking pot. People thought it was so cool to get him stoned. He wanted to be like them. So little did he know he would be worse than them. As it went on he started using his drug of choice crystal meth, one of the street names there on an every day basis. He fell in love with his drug of choice and it seemed to have fallen in love with him. He ended up moving to Tennessee and stayed there for 3 years. At this point in his life he had become a liar, cheat and thief. He hurt a lot of family members, friends an others. He moved to Florida from Tennessee when he was about 24 years old. He kept using drugs, drinking, stealing and hurting people that cared about him.
In February, 1994 turned out to be one of the worse days of his life he says. He was sitting in a unit and had gotten tested for HIV and his test came back positive. He thought to himself this is it. “I’m going to die now.” He was glad he was there instead of out on the streets because he...
