Trinity Community Hospital Report: Health Care Trends, Impact, & Legislation
Impending, current, and new legislation shapes both the face and minute details of health care delivery in the United States. Currently the most dramatic changes have come from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). The act has done the following throughout all health care delivery systems in the United Stated: increased the number of insured patients; lowered reimbursements; restructured reimbursements based upon new criteria than previously utilized; and has created additional mandates for health care providers and facilities. The changes and impacts this legislation and current trends cause for Trinity Community Hospital's (TCH) proposed new service lines will alter how these service lines are organized and how successful they will be going forward. Impending or new legislation in the future has the potential to improve health care for patient and provider alike. Conversely, legislation could also cause detrimental changes that would adversely affect TCH’s current and future endeavors. In order to plan for the future TCH must scrutinize current legislation, new legislation, trends, and their effects to determine what impacts they will have on TCH’s current and planned for operations. Additionally, TCH should also determine how these trends might influence future legislation.
Oncology Health Trends
Oncology Services are currently experiencing many different trends that other service lines are not facing. While they have been affected by the PPACA, other trends within oncology care have had a larger impact on how this service is operated.
