There is a difference between watching a performance on television and watching a performance live. Your entire perception of what is going on and the entire experience you encounter is also very different from watching the performance on your couch at home. specifically concerts are much different live then they are on television. For example, the concert with the bands The Story So Far, Stick To Your Guns, Such Gold, Rotting Out, and Souvenirs. When recapping a live performance there would be so much you could talk about, but when thinking about it the question that must be asked is, besides the performers themselves what were the other aspects of the performance that helped “make” the performance? What really helped make the concert was definitely lighting which dealt with two elements of composition lighting and color. Another aspect that helped make the concert was the stage set up. Due to the fact that so many bands performed at this concert, when describing my overall experience only one will be talked about specifically and that will be the Souvenirs.
The type of music that was played at this concert was more alternative punk rock. If the all the lights were on and the music was played soft and the stage was small the enjoyment and impact of the concert would not have been the same, neither would have been the reactions from the audience. Lighting plays a huge role in making the performance and setting a mood for a concert, for this type of concert it had to be an exciting kind of mood, the point was to get the kids pumped up and rocking out. To do that the lights had to be off. Not only, but there had to be an aestheticism to the lighting that appealed to the specific kind of audience. With the lighting there also needed to go with the type of feel the music was giving off. The lighting at this concert did just that.
