Imagine if you had a greyhound puppy, you raised it and built a loyal companionship. You have become so dependent on this dog it's like another family member. You have raised it to compete against other dogs to run races. This dog has won you many awards over the years for racing, and as we all know there is a day your dogs life comes to an end. Usually because of old age or sicknesses. Now that your dog is no longer able to race, you just kill it yourself. It no longer has any use for you anymore. The relationship is worthless. About sixty four percent of U.S. households have pets. Every year there are over sixty thousand greyhounds that are needlessly killed every year. Sixteen percent of animal cruelty involve cats every year. Im going to further educate you of different types of animal abuse and why people abuse their pets.
There are two different types of animal abuse, active cruelty and passive cruelty. Passive cruelty is when you dont give any attention or action to abuse the animal. It's neglet toward the animal, like you dont have any responsibility for the animal. Some different types of abuse that is passive cruelty are not giving the animal there proper portions of food, or even feeding them at all. A person can dehydrate an animal. Maybe the animal is an outside pet and the weather is in extreme conditions and doesnt have the proper shelter, so it might get heat stroke or freeze to death. Another form of passive cruelty is ignoring the animal to the point where their collar is growing into their skin, and neglecting the animal of veterinary care when the animal needs the medical attention. Specially knowing the animal is not in good health and ignoring it. Often times with this type of abuse the person negleted the animal because of ignorance, or just because they are lazy and/or dont care about anyone but themselves.
