We live in the 21st century where our world is surrounded by technology and media. Many young adults are influenced by the media, for it is in our daily lives. There are many types of media, such as; radio, billboards, music, magazines, and tv. Tv is one of the most popular types of media that people learn various types of information from. So over the past month i decided to watch a few episodes of one of the top tv shows on television today. The Big Bang Theory is ranked number two in Networks Primetime series of seasons from the ages of 18 to 49. What i researched was how women are viewed in the media specifically the tv show The Big Bang Theory, and my overview was how women are portrayed as sex objects from men. The show is about these four nerdy men that work at a university with three of them having a PHD degree and one with a Master in engineering. These men are nerdy and cant socially connect with women that well, and a hot blonde waitress trying to become a actor moves in next door to the two main nerdy guys. The show is about these people and how they live their lives and how they all slowly find a girlfriend. The few episodes I watch I will show the ways that women are viewed.
This show has a lot of stuff that normal life has just like dating, for in this episode Leonard the main nerdy guy goes on a date with the hot blonde waitress Penny for the first time. Leonard is dressed up in a nice suit and Penny is in a short tight pink dress and when the date ends they stop halfway in the hall between their apartments. This is supposed to be the romantic part where they kiss good night, but this is where the women is viewed as a sexual object. For example, when Leonard gives Penny a kiss he notices up in the corner a camera that zooms in on Penny's boobs.
