My name is Sam Vincent and I am an 19 year old entering my first year of college at the University of Purdue. I have lived in Chicago for my whole life along with my parents. I am the youngest of three children, my brother 36 and my sister 33. My father is a contractor and also does cement work. My mother has always been a stay at home mom and together my parents have raised me to be the smart, hard working young man that I am.
I have been in the Chicago school system my whole life. I started at John Mills Elementary and was there until the end of sixth grade. I then attended Elm Middle School. After middle school I attended Guerin College Prep for one year but decided that that wasn’t for me and transferred to Elmwood Park High where I then graduated from. Through my high school educational career I earned a 3.2 accumulative GPA and received a 23 on my ACT. Through high school I also played golf and basket ball. In golf I was a two time conference champ and a two time sectional qualifier. I was also a three time team MVP and Captain. During my senior year of basketball I was a team captain as well.
I have been a caddie at Oak Park Country Club for six years now. I consider myself a good caddie. Each year I have been invited to the caddie banquet and so far I have really enjoyed being a caddie. It has helped me become a harder worker as well as more disciplined and has helped my golf game.
When I am at purdue I hope to study something in the Science or Fitness field. If I were to get this scholarship I would either use the money to pay for part of my tuition or for books. I hope you feel that I am deserving of this scholarship, thank you.
