Birth Control Bettering the Lives of Teenagers
About half of the teens between the ages of 15 to 19 have had sex at least once. Theses teens are having unprotected sex and it said that 82 percent of those pregnancies are unplanned. Teenagers aren't prepared to take care of a child while they are still growing into adults. If teenagers would be able to use birth control all the effects that come with teen pregnancy would decrease and make a positive difference to the lives of these unprepared teens. Research shows that around 70 percent of teens drop out, face the pressure of an abortion- that 29 percent of them end up having, and the majority of teens are concerned about the ability to care for the baby financially, emotionally and physically. All of these statistics could change if teens could be able to use the safe and reliable birth control pill.
Pregnant teens have many pressures that cause them to drop out of high school. Not many of them are fortunate to have support and encouragement to stay in school. Some are subjected to bullying or even sexual harassment. With all this pressure accumulating in school they lack in academic performances, juggle a job with school, and insecurities about their appearances. Having support from adults who can give them guidance and listen to their concerns as well as peers who can keep them from feeling as socially isolated can help teens avoid dropping out of high school, which gives them and their babies a better chance of success in life. This affects not only the girls and their children, but also society, which pays the cost of teen pregnancy through lowered productivity, higher numbers of people dependent on welfare, and more young people with health or behavior problems. Support should also focus on helping them avoid getting pregnant again. A good system is extremely important in helping a pregnant teen finish school and hope for the best for the life of the baby.
