Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I stood next to my smashed car. I was fine. All that was running through my mind was, “What are my parents going to say?” and “How did this happen?” In a short distance I could see the red and blue lights coming down the hill. I waited for the policeman to get out of his car and approach me. All I could do was wait. Wait for everything to unfold.
The ring of my phone woke me up as I slowly crawled out of bed and headed to the shower. It was a start of another day. Same routine in the morning: Wake up, shower and eat some breakfast. I took a long warm, relaxing shower and then got out and started to get ready. I was running behind on time, but it was a Saturday so it didn’t really matter to me. I finished getting ready and went into the kitchen and ate breakfast with my mom. We had a small conversation about my driving for some reason that morning. She told me how she was proud that I haven’t hit anything or gotten in any car accidents in my first year of having my license. I agreed that it was very fortunate and continued to eat my breakfast.
After breakfast was over, I asked my mom what her plan was for the day. I didn’t have to work so I had a pretty open schedule. She planned on going to the grocery store, which didn’t seem to exciting to me considering I work in a grocery store. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, so I decided to head into Appleton and maybe go shopping or visit some friends. I left my house around one in the afternoon. It was a sunny and warm day. I was just driving around listening to my music and enjoying the breeze from my sunroof. After a while I decided that I really didn’t feel like shopping and everyone was pretty much busy. So I headed back home. I enjoy driving so that day I thought it would be nice to take the scenic way home. I drove past school and headed down Meade Street. I was driving around five miles an hour over the speed limit. I am used to driving this road...
