Changes in an Employee’s Behavior _I think Mel should do this time is confront Jack again about things that he has witness. Ask Jack upfront about drinking alcohol on the job. Try to find out what is the root of the problem and if Jack still does not want to tell him then I would make him take a leave of absent from work. Because drinking alcohol on the job is not right and it would be for the safety of other employee’s if Jack was not there and not only the safety of the other employees but for the safety of the company and safety of Jack himself. I would also tell Jack that it might help him if he talks to someone about what he is going through before he comes back to work. _ How should Mel handle the overall problem I think Mel handle the problem well but I would have talk to Jack more the first time and not leave it alone when Jack said that I will be ok just bare with me for a little bit longer. I would have told him then If the this keeps on happen I will have to make you take a leave absent for work because I cannot have someone talking like that to other employees or showing up latter to work or being gone for work for so long. I would make Jack see what he has been doing. I would say what I great job that he has done in the pass and that I know that person is still there somewhere.
