The movie “Rain Man” was a very touching movie. It had its ups and its downs. There were a few characters in this movie that stood out to me. The character Raymond was a static character. This means he was unchanging throughout the movie. In the movie, Raymond had a disability and could not help but do things or have things done a certain way. There was no cure for his disability so he did not really change. The character Susanna who was Charlie’s girlfriend was a static character also. She was this because in the movie she always helped people. That was her thing, helping people. She tried to help Charlie realize what he was doing was wrong and she also helped Charlie with his business. So she was a helper throughout the whole movie.
The opposite of static character is dynamic character. The dynamic character in the movie “Rain Man” was the character Charlie. He was all about money, but realizing his dad passed away leaving 3 million dollars to his brother, who he had not known for most of his life, made Charlie deeply angry. Towards the beginning of when the brothers reunited Charlie did not understand about Raymond. There was more to him then his disability. We see later on in the movie that the two brothers begin to bond and Charlie understands more about Raymond and everything that goes on in his mind. Dr. Bruner, who works at Walbrook, is at first naive about the whole situation on Charlie taking Raymond. He thinks that Charlie is just using Raymond for the money, which is true up until a point. Soon after Charlie and Raymond begin to really connect and bond, Dr. Bruner sees it too. He understands that Charlie gets Raymond now. So that makes him a dynamic character because he changed throughout the movie.
The mid-point of the film all begins in Vegas. When Charlie needs to win money back and Raymond and him count cards. They are really bonding here and things are starting to turn over and turn good for Charlie. Things change when Charlie knows...
