ENG 225 Film: From watching to seeing.

I loved the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a wonderful throw off of that movie.
Charlie and the chocolate factory is about a boy who at a young age decides that he does not like his father’s rules and runs away. He had a lot of hatred towards his father, you see his father is a narcissistic dentist and is obsessed and more interested in whether or not peoples teeth stay healthy rather than to let his child be a child. He is so worried about what his kids’ teeth look like than whether or not his child feels the love of a parent. One Halloween Willy went trick or treating and when he came home his dad threw all his candy away. Willy went his whole life thinking that his father did not love him and living in a candy coated world, only to find out in the end that family is the most important thing you will ever have. He comes to find his father again but does not tell him that he is Willy he sits down in his dentist chair and lets his father just check his teeth. While looking at Willy’s teeth his father realizes that it is his son.
In this scene Charlie finds pictures and news clippings, all glued to a scrap book, about Willy and his success, realizing that the whole time Willy was gone his father did miss him and was even proud of him. All of these things taking place in a time where things were hard. The world was in a deep depression. Some people were rich and had everything they needed but there was others that did not have anything and struggled every day to survive. They lived in a one room cottage with one bed to share between 6 people, having hardly anything to eat in a day and barely surviving. Businesses were closed due to limited funds. People were supporting their selves by doing odd jobs...
